I know how you feel with name change issues. When I got married almost three years ago I took my husbands last name - the one stipulation for us actually getting married. His parents were never married and split up when he was 2, so for him being married and being a family means we all had the same last name. If I didn't want to take his name we would have remained partners in life but never be officially married. He never meant this in a chauvinistic way, because I realize how that might sound, but for him the coming together with a single name was very important. It didn't really matter that much to me, so it was an easy thing for us to continue on with our wedding plans. I also liked that my name would start with a D instead of W - and our kids wouldn't always be at the end of the line : ) I had planned on making my maiden name my second middle name, but always forgot when filling out the paper work so it still hasn't happened... Maybe next time I need to renew my drivers license of passport it will happen but - heck I may forget then as well : )

We are about to have our first baby in a couple of weeks, and something that we have decided on is to give her my maiden name as a second middle name. My father has three daughters and no son's so his name will not be carried. I think that might be part of my reasoning for wanting my baby girl to carry the name on, even if it is only on paper. I still haven't told my dad that we will be doing this - but I think it will be truely joyous moment when we do.

I think sometimes it just takes time to get used to, I wish you the best of luck adjusting. I used to go to high school with Lloyd - and was pleased when I stumbled across your blogs to see how happy you are in your new life together! I always thought Lloyd had a great last name. You guys will come up with what works best for your family - and that is all the truely matters.
